The Community Foundation Serving the Counties of Riverside and San Bernardino will conduct a grant-writing and technical-assistance workshop from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, for Idyllwild nonprofits at the Idyllwild Library community meeting room.<\/p>\n
The Idyllwild Community Fund, a fund of The Community, is now accepting grant proposals from local, qualified nonprofit organizations through May 5.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to ensure that the local nonprofits are comfortable and knowledgeable about completing the online grant application for the Idyllwild Community Fund,\u201d said Karen Lampert, program officer at The Community Fund, explaining why the class is being offered. \u201cGrant writing can be a bit intimidating to newer or smaller nonprofits, so we wanted to assist nonprofits with navigating the online application as well as provide some general helpful tips and information that would help them gain skills and knowledge to be more confident grant writers overall.\u201d<\/p>\n
This hands-on workshop will walk participants through the ICF online grant application in addition to providing basic grant writing tips and information. Since space is limited, potential participants are asked to RSVP for the workshop to Lampert at klampert@thecommunityfoundation.net or call at 951-241-7777.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we have a huge response that exceeds the space capacity then we would schedule a second session to accommodate the overflow,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
The fund\u2019s advisory committee of local community residents states a dedication to improving the quality of life for Idyllwild residents.\u00a0 The advisory board gives funding preference to the following areas:\u00a0 Arts and Culture, Human Services, Environment and Emergency Preparedness.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf The Community Foundation can provide this small service that helps nonprofits be successful in receiving more grant funds from additional sources then we are working to fulfill our mission of \u2018Strengthening Inland Southern California Through Philanthropy\u2019 and ensuring our regional nonprofits have continued capacity to provide those valuable services needed in the community,\u201d Lampert said.<\/p>\n
Last year, the fund awarded more than $12,000 in support to qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofits. An anonymous donation for the benefit of the Idyllwild community established the ICF in 1997.<\/p>\n
