A 54-year-old Norwalk man was killed when his Honda touring motorcycle ran off the road at about 10:51 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n
Rafael Nu\u00f1ez was traveling eastbound on Highway 74 1 mile east of Wilson Way near U.S. Forest Service Cranston Fire Station, said California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Darren Meyer. American Medical Response transported Nu\u00f1ez to Hemet Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Meyer said Nu\u00f1ez was wearing a helmet and no other vehicles were involved.<\/p>\n
The fatal traffic collision reported in last week\u2019s paper that occurred Monday, June 30, involved Karsha Carter, 33, of Yucca Valley, according to Sgt. James of the Riverside County Coroner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
Carter was driving southbound on Highway 243 in a white 1995 Toyota Camry at 2:25 p.m. She was traveling behind two other vehicles as they were passing a northbound Riverside County Transportation truck driven by Phillip Nielson of Norco about 800 feet south of Diamond Zen Road. The first two vehicles passed but the Camry drifted over the double-yellow lines, said Meyer, colliding with the truck.<\/p>\n
The left side of the Camry was \u201cwiped out,\u201d Meyer said, and the victim was trapped inside the vehicle. Riverside County Fire paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. Nielson was uninjured.<\/p>\n
Neither vehicle contained passengers.<\/p>\n
Meyer said drugs and\/or alcohol have not been ruled out in either crash.<\/p>\n
