In a Riverside County Superior courtroom Wednesday, Dec. 3, Daniel L. Plott, 45, of Idyllwild, pleaded guilty to attempted hit and run and also acknowledged a prior felony conviction.<\/p>\n
Judge Judith C. Clark denied probation and sentenced Plott to a prison term of one year and four months. He has already served 130 days and was credited with another 130 days for a total time served of 260 days, which is slightly more than half the sentence. He was remanded to the custody of the Riverside County Sheriff for transfer to state prison.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, July 27, there were reports of a woman injured from a hit and run on Highway 243 near Ridgeview Drive. According to the Sheriff\u2019s Department, Plott was driving a three-wheel scooter when he ran into a pedestrian and left the scene.<\/p>\n
Sheriff\u2019s deputies arrested Plott for assault with a deadly weapon and the district attorney subsequently filed a felony hit-and-run charge on July 27, to which he pleaded not guilty. The not-guilty plea was withdrawn at last week\u2019s trial readiness conference, when he did plead guilty to the second count.<\/p>\n
On Sept. 17, 1987, Plott had been convicted \u201cof the crime of \u2026 kill with vehicle with negligence, a serious and violent felony,\u201d according to the complaint filed by the District Attorney\u2019s office. This was the previous \u201cstrike.\u201d<\/p>\n
