The annual Idyllwild 5K and 10K Fitness Run and Walk, a fundraiser for the Idyllwild School physical education program, is Saturday, June 6.<\/p>\n
The race was first run as a benefit to the Idyllwild School physical education program in the early 1980s; but the first locally organized 10-kilometer run preceded the fundraiser by several years. Over the years, proceeds from races have grown from a few hundred dollars to now approaching $4,000. After 34 years, more than $70,000 from the races has benefited the school\u2019s program. Race proceeds have grown with the increasing number of runners.<\/p>\n
A rejuvenated Race Committee has scheduled the 5K for 7:15 a.m. and the 10K for 8 a.m. A half-mile Kids Run (for children under age 7) is at 9:15 a.m., at Town Hall, where the traditional Pancake Breakfast is served along with the post-race Awards Ceremony.<\/p>\n
