The Art Alliance of Idyllwild\u2019s 2012 Artist of the Year, Kathy Harmon-Luber, is exhibiting her photography \u201cDress: Whispers\u201d at Artspresso Art Gallery. Opening reception is from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 27. The exhibit runs though August.<\/p>\n
Of her work, Kathy said, \u201c\u2018Dress: Whispers\u2019 is all about a rare and fleeting moment of beauty, which shimmers in its enchantment, and then is forever gone \u2026\u00a0 voyeuristic in its glimpse. It is evocative of French laundry circa 1950s. It embodies the word Sfumato, Italian, referring to a certain art technique which gives a hazy, mysterious quality of gossamer thin layers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s also a wonderful metaphor for life and romance. Every image is created in the camera, in natural sunlight \u2014 no filters, no digital enhancement. Like my 2014 \u2018Venice: Whispers\u2019 series, the photographs are double exposures with a whisper of another image \u2014 painted and collaged art, handwriting, brocade patterns, flower blossoms and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am passionate about capturing imaginative \u2014 and often fleeting \u2014 images of beauty and light. I hope to share with the viewer a moment of joy or hope, a reminder of a lovely memory, a vicarious travel adventure, a dream come true, or simply a tranquil respite from the stress and angst of everyday life.\u201d<\/p>\n
