FATAL COLLISION: According to CHP Officer Darren Meyer, Nancy Pemberton, 65, of Rancho Mirage, was the driver of a 2014 Coachman RV involved with a fatal collision with a motorcycle on Sunday afternoon, April 27. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has not released information about the El Segundo man killed riding the motorcycle. No one has been charged and the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol and drugs have been ruled out. The 2011 Honda motorcycle slammed into the driver’s side door of the RV, fatally injuring the man. Both the RV and motorcycle were fully engulfed in flames within minutes, also igniting vegetation on the side of the road. An unidentified male and Pemberton traveling in the RV along with two dogs, had minor injuries and were not transported by medical personnel. Highway 74 was closed for over an hour while CHP and fire personnel investigated the scene. Photo by Jenny Kirchner
