The Idyllwild Garden Club’s Mountain Garden Tour is raising the bar for its visitors. Not only will they discover Idyllwild’s botanical wonderlands, each garden will have a Plein Air artist painting on site. The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7.

This is IGC’s first year collaborating with the Art Alliance of Idyllwild at this event and it promises to be an exciting one. Besides these six unique gardens the casual visitor seldom sees, bonus stops  will include an art sculpture garden, environmental photography and the Village Garden. Events at the Idyllwild Area Historical Museum and Village Garden will include garden craft items, free refreshments and an assortment of homemade goodies at a bake sale.

This self-guided tour teaches how mountain gardeners have planted attractive native plants with popular garden varieties for year-round flowering foliage. Walk through a unique variety of gardens in this cool mountain setting.

Guests will have a morning and afternoon of inspiration, showcasing inventive successes in dealing with challenges like drought, hillsides, rocks and shade. Using plants native to mountains and to California is an example of how these Idyllwild gardeners created a small wonderland with year-round color, texture and habitat for birds, butterflies and bees.

Tickets are $15 each or $25 for two: child entries are free. Purchase advance tickets at the Idyllwild Pharmacy, at the Lily Rock Native Nursery or online at www.idyllwildgardenclub.net.

Day-of-event tickets/maps are available in front of Lily Rock Native Nursery and at the Idyllwild Historical Society Museum starting at 9 a.m.
