Memorial Day at Lake Hemet Campgrounds will be big. For the first time, swimming will be permitted at the lake. And not only swimming, but a water park for families featuring 11 floating play structures, three of them dedicated to very young children.
Kelly Lam, marketing director for the California Parks Company that operates the campground and Lake Hemet Market, reassured adults that they, too, could use the park, called Splash Island II. “The II denotes that this is the second of our water park facilities. The first was a huge success at Lake Gregory in the San Bernardino mountains,” said Lam.
Admission to the park will cost $10 a day in addition to the admission to Lake Hemet itself. Season passes will be available but prices have not yet been set for the passes. Admission includes required life vests.
The inflatable park will be anchored just off a shallow beach near campground 5. General swimming off the beach will also be allowed in addition to use of the park. There will be no additional charge for just using the beach for swimming.
Lam said the remodel of the Lake Hemet Market is also proceeding on schedule and both the park and market should be open for Memorial Day.

If there is no issue with water quality for human contact then why has there been a ban on human contact until now?
Seriously! It looks like fun, but is water quality even safe?
Someone will probably drown in that dirty water.
