On Monday, March 23, Monica Ruiz, wife of Rep. Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Desert), gave birth to twin daughters — Sky and Sage.
Ruiz released the following statement that afternoon: “Monica and I welcomed two healthy and happy daughters into our family. Words can’t express the overwhelming joy we feel. We are both grateful to God for this blessing and their safe delivery.
“Thank you to our family, friends and our desert community for your love, prayers and well wishes for our new family throughout this exciting time in our lives,” Ruiz said. “We’re absolutely ecstatic that our family has grown by 20 fingers and 20 toes.”
Ruiz was elected to Congress in November 2012. He and Monica Rivers wed in early 2014.
