The Mountain Disaster Preparedness group held its first meeting of 2016 at Creekstone Inn last Tuesday, Jan. 19. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to allow abortions, under certain conditions, was issued on Jan. 22, 1973. The following year, the first “March for Life” protest was held in Washington, D.C. On Jan. 21, local residents, including John Cook (center), gathered around the Tree Monument and walked to Queen of Angels Church. The white crosses were a symbol of many abortions since 1973.
