Faculty at Idyllwild School were treated to some well-deserved pampering May 3 through 7 during Teacher Appreciation Week.
Idyllwild School PTA organized and sponsored the week of morning goodies, lunches and gifts of gratitude.
“We know how challenging it’s been for teachers in 2020 and 2021 given the pandemic and having to totally change their teaching style to a distance model,” said Idyllwild School PTA President Mary Lunetta. “We wanted to go all-out this year and let them know how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication to our kids.”
Breakfast and lunch were supplied each day by a local restaurant, bakery and coffee shop. There were also beverages donated by a local grocery store available anytime in a stocked cooler.
Teachers got to enjoy everything from burritos to bibimbap and doughnuts to candied apples.
The PTA also sent home a flyer with ideas for students and parents to get in on the action, and “the response was great,” Lunetta said. Teachers were showered with flowers, cards, original art and gifts from their students throughout the week.
Gennesse Sandlin, who serves on the PTA executive committee and is a bilingual aide at Idyllwild School, said the feedback from teachers was overwhelming. “They kept telling me this was the best Teacher Appreciation Week they’d ever had.”
One teacher even visited every business that participated to personally drop off a thank you card.
