“We are profoundly proud of Mike Sattley’s recognition as the Riverside
County Classified Administrator of the Year,” said Christi Barrett, HUSD
superintendent, after the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE)
announced his recognition. “His leadership in our facilities department
has been instrumental in creating modern, renovated spaces that
significantly enhance student learning experiences.”
At HUSD, Sattley is the director of Facilities Services. He is
responsible for managing the transformation of older schools to newer
and more contemporary. To achieve a satisfied clientele, not just a
school board, but also the teachers and students who spend weeks in
these buildings, he interviews the principals, teachers, students and
the community, while evaluating the original facility before developing
designs for the renovations.
In response to the honor, Sattley, who came to HUSD in 2019, said, “I’m
deeply honored to be recognized as the Riverside County Classified
Administrator of the Year. This recognition not only reflects my own
efforts but also the unwavering dedication of our facilities team.
Together, we strive every day to ensure the highest standards of service
and support for our community, and I am immensely proud of what we have
accomplished.”
Although he has only been with HUSD for five years, Sattley has been
working in education for over 20 years. Before working at HUSD, he “…
led facilities teams at various other Riverside County school districts,
establishing himself as a very knowledgeable and experienced individual
within his scope of work,” wrote Sonia Ramirez, chief communications
officer for HUSD.
“Mike’s exceptional dedication and meticulous attention to detail are
known by everyone who has the privilege of working alongside him,”
Barrett added. “He cares deeply about his work and those it impacts. We
are truly honored to have individuals like Mike who choose to work
tirelessly in our district, dedicated to serving our students and
ensuring they have the best possible environment to thrive academically
and personally.”
In its recognition release, RCOE described Sattley’s approach to his
work as “that of a ‘true educator’ whose versatility and vision can be
seen in developing state-of-the-art educational facilities spanning
‘from farms to water distribution simulations, theater modernization,
medical clinics, automotive shops, makerspaces, and a cutting-edge
welding facility.’”
The Riverside County Educators of the Year are selected from more than
36,000 educational employees in the county. The rigorous application
process starts with nominations by teachers, classified employees, and
school district administrators throughout the county. Applications are
then submitted to the RCOE, where an outside selection committee selects
the honorees before the county superintendent announcement.
