By noon on Friday January 10, electricity had been restored to many local residents left in the dark by the Public Safety Power Shutdown. Fern Valley seemed to be still without power. Southern California Edison Senior Advisor for Corporate Communications Jeff Monford was unable to predict exactly when individual neighborhoods would have service restored, but provided this update to the Town Crier:
- At SCE, our top concern is the safety of our customers, crew members and communities. If you see a downed power line, do not touch it or anything in contact with it. Stay at least 100 feet away and call 911.
- If you’re told to evacuate, GO.
- Latest figures: Total of 278,143 customers without power
- 149,052 due to Public Safety Power Shutoffs
- 129,091 due to all other causes, including wind damage.
- SCE estimates 1.29 million customers have seen an impact since the storm started on Jan 7.
- Power to 968,000 customers has been restored as of Thursday.
- SCE has thousands of field crew members working tirelessly to restore power as quickly as they can do safely during this break in the winds.
- SCE is also receiving support from other utilities through the mutual assistance program.
- With dangerous winds and multiple large fires continuing, customers may be without power for several days.
- More than anyone, we understand that electricity is essential, how much people depend on it, and that going without it is a hardship.
- Please know that we will restore power where there are outages as soon as possible.
