Niccolas Anthony Rados, 28, was discharged from Bellevue Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on Feb. 22.

He logged onto a Pacific Crest Trail hiking log in Idyllwild on March 19, as a northbound hiker. He entered his destination as Canada.

According to posts by his father, Scott Rados, and others searching for him, detectives located credit activity for him in Idyllwild on March 22. They believe he may be using gyms to train for mixed-martial arts along the trail.

Rados is a former 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. He has not contacted his two sons or his parents since his discharge from the hospital, his father said. “His phone is out of service and there has been no social media activity. This is out of character for Nick.”

The Omaha Police Department released an official missing-persons report describing him as white, 5-foot, 11-inches, weighing 185 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. He had a beard when last seen and multiple tattoos. He was last seen driving a gray 2017 Toyota Corolla.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rados is asked to call the Omaha PD at 402-444-5818, the Nebraska Missing Persons Information Clearinghouse at 402-479-4986 in the Lincoln Metro Area or toll free 1-877-441-LOST (1-877-441-5678) outside the Lincoln Metro Area.
