Zeus

Last week in Days of Our Nine Lives, ARF cats were happy for Berkeley who found his forever family.

Zeus:  Well, it’s just us.

Lulu:  I heard we were getting a new dog. What happened?

Whiskers: He was adopted within five days!

Flora: Only five days? It seems all dogs coming to ARF have been adopted faster than we could get to know them.

Whiskers: That’s right. It’s great news for these pups. I wish the same would happen for us.

Flora: I do know that all my babies have been adopted, although they are not ready to go to the forever homes quite yet.

Pepper: What about you, Flora?

Flora: I will stay with all of you until I find a family. I won’t mind. You are all so sweet.

Pepper: Aw, thanks. I know the ARF humans think we are.

Zeus: It has always been a challenge to get humans in here to meet us, but now it is worse than ever.

Pepper: Maybe they think they aren’t allowed to visit with us, but if they make an appointment they may.

Zeus: A visit would be good for both us and the humans.

Pepper: I suppose the studies that have shown petting a dog or cat reduces stress are applicable more than ever right now.

Bear: And having a cat or dog at home during these uncertain times can be very soothing.

Whiskers: I know I would give unconditional love, comfort, and support.

Lulu: And I would be such a good listener. I’d just purr and listen for hours.

Bear: We really are perfect companions!

Flora: Humans are beginning to realize this.

Zeus: Now they just have to find their way into ARF.

Be sure to keep up with the animal antics of “Days of Our Nine Lives” each week. Please stop in to say hello to the entire adoptable cast at the ARF House, 26890 Highway 243 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sundays, or by appointment Monday-Friday by calling 951-659-1122.

    Harmony, not division

Editor: The sign on Highway 243 as one enters Idyllwild says “Welcome to Idyllwild, Home of Adventure, Music Art & Harmony.” I believe the town monument is also titled “Harmony.” I had always thought that the word “harmony” had a double meaning for our town. We have harmony among our friendly citizens and harmony in…

Editor: Do you know what Socialism really means? Winston Churchill, years ago, wrote this about socialism: “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” I can attest to that; I lived under Socialism in East Germany for 10 years….
