Ada Faye Davis Morlan Moe, 87, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at her home in Hemet.

She was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Scranton, Iowa. She was raised by her parents, Guy and Almirus Hawley Davis, on their farm in Scranton with her brothers Raymond and Lyle.

She graduated in 1931 from the Scranton school system. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and taught 11 fifth-grade boys in a small country school. She then went to work in the Scranton Bank.

In 1939 she married Lloyd “Bill” Evan Morlan. They raised three sons, Tom, Don and Bruce.

The family moved to Banning in 1948, then on to Idyllwild where Bruce was born in 1950.

In 1961, Mr. Morlan died of a heart attack and Ada was left to raise her youngest son Bruce. She worked at the Idyllwild Elementary School as secretary and at the Idyllwild Water Company as office manager.

In 1969 she married Harris Moe who had been a family friend in Idyllwild. They moved to Seal Beach where he worked with McDonnell-Douglas. In about 1992, they moved to Hemet.

Always knitting or doing some handiwork, she made many treasured, beautiful items as gifts to the family over the years. Ada’s happiest thoughts these past few years were that she was near her family in the Hemet area.

She loved to play the piano and organ and to sing in church choirs. She sang in the Sun West Village Christmas program in December 2000.

She had been a member of PEO for many years. Earlier in life she had belonged to Order of the Eastern Star.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery. An open house follows immediately after the service at Mrs. Moe’s home, 1874 Skyview Dr. in Sun West Village located at 1001 N. Lyon St. in Hemet. The Cremation Society of Riverside County is handling arrangements.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Lorraine Morlan of Hemet, Donald and Karen Morlan of Yucaipa, and Bruce and Karrie Morlan of Idyllwild; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Idyllwild Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 656, Idyllwild, CA 92549.
