The Idyllwild Town Crier invites the community to a Meet & Greet with congressional candidate Jim Desmond on Friday, Aug. 21, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Tahquitz Pines Retreat in Idyllwild.
Desmond, a Republican and San Diego County Supervisor, is running for California’s 48th Congressional District, which now includes Idyllwild and the surrounding Hill communities following the redrawing of the state’s congressional districts.
Desmond has served on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors since 2019 and previously served as mayor and a city councilmember in San Marcos. Before entering elected office, he spent 33 years as a pilot for Delta Air Lines and previously served in the U.S. Navy.
The Town Crier interviewed Desmond earlier this year as part of its coverage of candidates seeking the 48th District seat. During that interview, Desmond discussed affordability, taxes, energy, immigration and border security, as well as issues affecting mountain communities. He specifically identified wildfire preparedness as an important concern for Idyllwild and discussed his experience addressing wildfire issues in San Diego County.
Friday’s event will give Idyllwild residents an opportunity to meet Desmond in person, hear from him about his campaign and priorities, and ask questions about issues affecting the Hill and the 48th Congressional District.
The Idyllwild Town Crier is hosting the event and invites the community to attend.
