Allen Douglas Wood, 58, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, after a long battle with cancer.

Doug was born Aug. 15, 1949, in Hemet, and lived his entire life in Idyllwild.

His career included 17 years with the U.S. Forest Service in Idyllwild, five years as an owner-operator of a trucking company, and 17 years with the City of Banning as a senior maintenance supervisor.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and the outdoors, especially the San Jacinto Mountains and the Grand Tetons.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Idyllwild Community Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Kristeen Bandelin, pastor of Shiloh Christian Ministries in Idyllwild, officiating.

Doug is survived by his wife, Deidra Wood, of Idyllwild; a daughter, Kaziah Wood; two sons, Robert Wood of Craig, Colo., and Jason Wood of Idyllwild; his parents, Lloyd and Shirley Wood of Idyllwild; and two sisters, Linda Richerson of Idyllwild and Karen McCoy of Cottonwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Doug’s honor be made to ACS Lloyd G. Wood, P.O. Box 12, Idyllwild, CA 92549.
