Town Hall Sports Coordinator Jeremy Teeguarden reported on Town Hall Youth baseball for the week of June 4.

 

T-Ball League

Despite being on opposite teams, two players from both the Idyllwild Professional Cleaning Service White Sox and Rotary Padres share a hug at first base. More t-ball photos below. Photo

On Tuesday, June 5, the Idyllwild Professional Cleaning Service White Sox took on the Rotary Padres. The Padres Devin Yawman played great getting a couple nice hits for his team. The White Sox Kevin Perez played well all game long going after the ball.

 

On Wednesday, the Rotary Padres played again. This game the opponent was the American Legion Dodgers, Emily Brosterhous played great in the field getting a couple grounders and making nice throws. The Padres Eddy Rincon hit great getting a couple nice hits.

Friday’s game was between the Idyllild Professional Cleaning Service White Sox and the American Legion Dodgers. Travis Rocha, of the Dodgers, had a good game as he got two hits. The White Sox Kevin Perez had a good game as he made a couple nice plays in the field.

On Saturday, the Rotary Padres played their third game of the week against the Idyllwild Professional Cleaning Service White Sox. The Padres’ Jack Tate played fantastic as he hit the ball great all game. The White Sox Steven Solorano played equally well as he hustled around the bases.

Minor League
On Monday, June 4, the Idyllwild Inn Diamondbacks played the Suburban Propane Rangers. Both teams hit great all game long. The D-Backs Bowden Tate was awesome. He had four hits and scored two big runs. The Rangers stayed right with them as Lilah Whitney led the way collecting three hits and scoring time on base. The D-Backs’ key hits earned them a win in a tight high-scoring game. The final score was 15-14 in favor of the D-Backs.

Tuesday’s game matched the Shell Astros and the Suburban Propane Rangers in another nail-biter, in which both teams played great. The Astros didn’t give up and in their last at bat scored five runs to win the game by 12-11.

 

The Rangers Rene Montoya played great getting three hits and scoring twice as the Rangers built their lead.

Thursday’s game was between the Shell Astros and the Idyllwild Inn Diamondbacks. Both teams played great defense early. The Astros got their bats going in the third inning as Lance George got a big hit to knock in two runs, which gave his team the lead. Deana Clowers played great getting a couple of nice hits for the D-Backs. Astros were too much as they won 11-1.

On Friday, the Idyllwild Inn Diamondbacks played the Suburban Propane Rangers. The D-Backs showed their muscles as they hit awesome all game long. Ryder Dittman had four hits and Brian Jimenez scored two big runs for the D-Backs. The Rangers Geneva Dagnall played great getting two nice hits and scoring two runs. The final score was 21-14 in favor of the D-Backs, who secured second place for the playoffs with this victory.

Saturday was the first playoff game between the second place Idyllwild Inn D-Backs and the third place Suburban Propane Rangers. Michael Stroud played great on defense and scored four runs for the Rangers as they built an early lead. Deana Clowers got nice hits to knock in big runs as the D-Backs tried to stay close. The Rangers played great as they won the playoff game 21-12 and advanced to the championship game against the Shell Astros.

Major League
On Monday, June 4, the Higher Grounds Rays and the Green Cafe Cubs played each other. The Cubs Aaron Potter played great as he got several nice hits and scored two runs. The Rays, playing short handed, fought hard all game Sage Barnett and Zack Gray each scored a couple runs for the Rays. The Cubs Jannelys Santiago scored a big run for the Cubs in the last inning, but the Rays held on for a 9-7 victory.

Wednesday’s game was between the Wooley’s Orioles and the Higher Grounds Rays. Alia Teeguarden scored a run to get the Orioles on the board early in the game. Sidney Cruz got on base a of couple times for the Rays as the pitchers for both teams played great. The Orioles played solid defense all game and went on to win 4-1.

On Saturday the Green Cafe Cubs took on the Wooley’s Orioles. In a tune-up for the playoffs, the Orioles Destiny Makroulis had a nice hit as the Orioles built a lead early. Levi Sorenson and Miren Pino played great in the field chasing down balls. The Orioles stayed hot as they went on to win 8-2 and secure the first seed for the playoffs.
