Last weekend families of U.S. Navy servicemen and women stationed on the San Diego-based aircraft carrier Carl Vinson had the opportunity to greet their loved ones, board the Vinson and go 40 miles out to sea and watch carrier-based aircraft take off and land. Steve and Margie Johnson and family members met up with son Petty Officer 3 Craig Johnson and spent the day at sea. “Craig was able to give us a tour of the ship,” Steve said. Here the Vinson steams into San Diego with its personnel manning the rail and a very happy Craig sets foot on land after a long deployment. Photos courtesy of Steve Johnson
