I was honored to have had the opportunity to attend President Biden’s
State of the Union speech as our representative’s [Ken Calvert] one
guest. It was very exciting to be there for such a historic event.

Additionally, while in town, I had the opportunity to meet with the
representative and one of his staff members to discuss a few of our
local community issues, including IFPD’s funding challenges (since its
property tax funding assessment hasn’t been increased since the
mid-1980s), [Idyllwild Water District]’s impending effort to obtain
grant funds for the new sewer treatment project, and Idyllwild Community
Center’s ongoing efforts to access additional funding for the completion
of its ongoing new community center building project (next to the
Idyllwild Community Playground).

I found everyone in Rep. Calvert’s office to be very attentive and
interested in our mountain communities’ needs, and I look forward to
working with them in the future.
