Hemet High Boys cross-country
The Hemet High School boy’s cross-county team’s season ended at the CIF — SS preliminary races Saturday, Nov. 10.

They finished ninth in its heat, but were about a minute short of qualifying for this coming weekend’s CIF-SS cross-county finals.

Idyllwild sophomore Jayden Emerson cointinued his streak of sub-16-minute races, but was seconds behind the qualifying time.

He finished twenty-second at the Mt. San Antonio College race.

Fellow teammates on the team are Idyllwild runner Chad Schelly and former long-time resident Tanner Torrez, who finished 43rd.

On Nov.8, the team had its last meet of the season. They ran in the Diamond Valley Lake Invitational. The team had entrants in five of the six races.

Girls ran in the races for 6th, 7th and 8th grades and the boys were entered in the 7th and 8th grade races.

Riley Arnson finished 3rd in her race and Micah Hitchcock was 11th. Coach Lee Arnson said, “All the kids did great and the season was terrific.”

Trialthon
Local partipant Bill Whitman is preparing for the 2013 World Championships in London, England.

Meanwhile, he just spent time in running the 2012 ITU Short Course (Olympic) Triathlon, World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand.

Whitman finished 22nd in his age group and was the 2nd American in the race.
