Idyllwild residents Charles and Stephanie Johnston welcomed Jacob T. Johnston into the world as Idyllwild’s first baby of 2013. Jacob made his debut at 4:35 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27 at Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs.
Jacob weighed in at seven pounds, three ounces and measured 19 inches in length.
Jacob is Stephanie’s first child. Father Charles has three children from a previous marriage. The Johnston’s have lived on the Hill for two and a half years as a couple. Stephanie has lived here for 7 years.
By becoming the first baby of 2013, Jacob will receive gifts from local merchants. To be eligible for the Town Crier first baby contest, parents must reside full time in Idyllwild, Pine Cove, Stone Creek, Mountain Center or Garner Valley; proof of residency must be shown; the attending physician must certify the exact time of birth; and the Town Crier must receive notification of the birth no later than 10 a.m. on the next business day after the birth.
