One injury crash, requiring medical transport, took place in Idyllwild over the last week along with a fender bender on Highway 74 above Palm Desert.

At 10:26 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, Miguel Pablo Lopez, 23, of Idyllwild, was driving his silver 2008 Ford Focus southbound on Highway 243, 268 feet south of Riverside County Playground Road, when for unknown reasons he ran off the road when negotiating a turn and hit a utility pole, according to the California Highway Patrol report.

Lopez was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center complaining of pain to chest and abdomen.

There were no other vehicles or persons involved in this incident.

At about 10:42 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, Mary Ellen DeCremer, 61, of Yucca Valley, was driving her 1994 red Pontiac Trans Am northbound on Highway 74, 1.7 miles west of Big Horn Drive, when she attempted to pass another vehicle, made an unsafe turning movement and crashed into the mountain on the left side of the roadway. DeCremer suffered minor injuries but declined transportation.

Her vehicle sustained moderate to major damage and required towing. No other persons or vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the CHP report.
