Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” ARF cats and dogs celebrated Ranger going to a forever home.

Zorro

Little Girl: OK, my friends, time for our weekly meeting.

Zorro: I think we’re all here, aren’t we? (Looking around) Hmmm, where’s George?

Batman

Little Girl: That’s part of my news for today.  George found his forever family!

Anabel: Oh my goodness, that’s great. But I’ll miss him.

Little Girl: And there is more!  Sassy found her new home, and it comes with a new brother! On top of that, a sweet little poodle named Susie came to ARF and was adopted in one day.

Anabel

Trenton: You know, I’m watching everyone here to see what is done to win the hearts of humans. I’m trying so hard, but I’m still here.

Indigo: Me, too!

Augusta: I’m afraid that’s because we are shy with new humans. They get the wrong idea.

Zorro: Same with us, Augusta. Batman and I play a little hard to get, but when the human visits for more than 5 minutes, we become very friendly.

Pepper

Anabel: Speak for yourself, Zorro! I am friendly right off the bat.

Batman: Yea, but some of us just want to observe first.

Anabel: You four kittens are just so adorable; I cannot believe you’re still here.

Trenton: We would love a family who wants to play with us.

Little Girl: While several of us would be perfect — and I mean perfect — matches for a senior or senior couple.

Pepper: I hope seniors understand how beneficial a pet can be for their physical and emotional health. A study said, “Over the long term, pet and human interactions can lower cholesterol levels, fight depression and may even help protect against heart disease and stroke.”

Little Girl: How do you know that?

Pepper: An ARF caretaker told me, of course!
