Hello from the Idyllwild Association of Realtors. Thank you for reading. This month, our message to you, citizens of California, is simple yet imperative: Register to vote, get your ballot in and make your voice be heard.

It is not too late to register, but you must do it soon. The deadline for voter registration is Monday, Oct. 22. Registering to vote is easy and takes less than five minutes. To find your polling location, get more voting information and register, visit www.voteinfo.net (click on the “Register to Vote” icon on the main screen, or call 951-486-7200 or 1-800-773-VOTE.

This is an important statewide election coming up Nov. 6, not only for choosing the best state and local candidates for the job, but also deciding on important measures and propositions that will impact us all in our very near future.

The California Association of Realtors is urging all to vote:

Yes on Prop 5, which removes certain transfer requirements for homeowners over age 55, severely disabled homeowners, and contaminated or disaster-destroyed property, and

No on Prop 10, which repeals state law that currently restricts the scope of rent-control policies that cities and other local jurisdictions may impose on residential property.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Register to vote today before it’s too late. The deadline to register is coming up quick.

We hope to see you all at the polls. Whatever the outcome may be, we’ll see you next month on “Realtor Talk.”

“Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
