Mark DeAntonio, 53, of Pine Cove, who was charged in June with negligently discharging a firearm, has had several hearings in January regarding his attorney’s request for a mental health diversion.
Penal Code sections 1001.35 and 1001.36 authorize this review, according to the public defender’s request.
The latest scheduled court hearing was to be Feb. 19, but DeAntonio did not appear. The judge filed a notice to forfeit the $20,000 bail and scheduled another felony settlement conference and mental health diversion hearing for March 12.
Two hearings were held in January and a third scheduled for Jan. 29. The hearing’s purpose was titled “suitability/treatment.” However, DeAntonio did not appear in court for that hearing either.
Riverside County Superior Court Judge Emma Smith issued a bench warrant, reset bail at $20,000, and rescheduled the hearing for Feb. 19. DeAntonio was not present for this hearing.
On June 25, 2018, DeAntonio was arrested and charged with three felonies: negligently discharging a firearm, manufacturing a zip gun and under the influence while in possession of a loaded and operable firearm. He had been released on $20,000 bail.
