Idyllwild has an arts and beer festival, Pints in the Pines, coming to town from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at Mile Hi Plaza, 54385 N. Circle Dr., to benefit Animal Rescue Friends (ARF). This is a free, kid- and pet-friendly event.

“All proceeds will be going to ARF, which has suffered significantly the last three years due to lack of opportunity for fundraising,” wrote one of the organizers and Wild Idy Owner Amy Hawley.

“As you know, our local businesses have been through the wringer the last several years. Prior to COVID closures, we had the road closures of 2019, which led to ARF’s annual Paws for Rhythm and Brews being canceled. Between the Rhythm and Brews being canceled three years in a row and the annual yard sales not generating the traffic they did pre-road closures and COVID, ARF has been running solely based on the generosity of its patrons.”

A beer garden will be part of the event. Multiple breweries and wineries will be participating.

San Diego based graphic designer, illustrator and muralist Nicholas Danger (@nicholasdanger) will live-paint a 1991 Chevrolet Bronco at the event. Large scale muralist Skye Walker (@skyewalker_art), Orange County based illustrator, product designer and muralist Sara Lyons (@saramlyons), tattoo artist and muralist Sergio Hernandez (@splurgeo), Palm Springs muralist Kellie Pellegrini (@the.curative.creative) and Orange County artist and musician Josh Grelock (@therealjoshr) will also be at the event.

“ARF, Wild Idy and the associated businesses, sponsors and vendors all look forward to this being a growing annual event,” Hawley said.

There will be cooling stations for the dogs and art activities for the kids.

A Mural Map, produced by Wild Idy, will be available for locals and visitors after the event to see the many murals around town.
