At 11:57 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, Cabazon Sheriff’s Station deputies were dispatched to a rescue call at Mt. San Jacinto Park in the wilderness, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Deirdre Vickers. “The reporting party advised a subject was located not breathing, and medical aid was being provided.
“Rescue 9 attempted to reach the location but could not due to visibility and strong winds.
“California State Parks rangers hiked to the location and pronounced the subject deceased.”
She said the rangers camped at the location until Rescue 9 returned at 9:06 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, “and hoisted the deceased subject from the area. The decedent was released to the Coroner’s Bureau for next of kin notification. There were no signs of foul play. This is an ongoing investigation. No further details are available at this time.”
