Riverside County Sheriff’s Department officers executed a search, pursuant to a warrant, on the Bonita Vista Ranch in Garner Valley Sunday morning, Oct. 15.

The 117-acre ranch is the property of Dia Abrams, who has been missing since June 6, 2020. It was also the scene of the death of Jodi Newkirk in December 2021, who apparently died in an all-terrain vehicle rollover, but was found to have a fatal concentration of methamphetamine in her blood.

Keith Harper, a registered sex offender who has described himself as Abrams fiancée, and was named as the trustee and beneficiary of her estate in a will drafted weeks before her disappearance, reported Newkirk’s death.

Harper continues to reside at the ranch and fight with Abram’s adult children over the estate in court. If Abrams is not found within five years of her disappearance, she will be presumed dead.

David Gotfredson, who has been investigating this story for CBS channel 8 in San Diego, shared with the Crier that neighbors along Bonita Vista Road were awakened by a helicopter overhead, telling Harper to come out of the house. They also reported the arrival of a backhoe.

By 9:30 a.m., this reporter was able to see uniformed sheriff’s department personnel and many unmarked vehicles on the property before being escorted off by a plainclothes officer who recommended contacting the department’s public information officer (PIO).

The PIO’s response was: “Riverside County Sheriff’s Office personnel are in the 58000 block of Bonita Vista Road in Mountain Center serving a search warrant. No arrests have been made at this time. Currently, no further details are available.”
