Easter Bunny visit now in question

The Easter Bunny has reached out to the Idyllwild Community Center (ICC)
and Riverside County Parks Ranger Richard Aguilera to raise weather
concerns about the impending cohosted annual Easter Egg Hunt scheduled
for Saturday, March 30, at the Idyllwild Regional Park (54000 Riverside
County Playground Road).

I previously reported last week in the Idyllwild Town Crier that the
event would occur even if a few spring showers were predicted. However,
the Easter Bunny (and event planners) have become concerned due to the
prediction (as of the writing of this article on Sunday, March 24) of a
significant possibility or rain and snow during event hours.

“We would love to hold the event and all preparations are complete. ICC
and the county have more than 4,000 candy- and toy-filled Easter eggs
ready for the Easter Bunny to hide for the participating children. But
the health and safety of those participants, their families and our
volunteers are also top of mind. Currently there is a 60% chance of rain
and snow that morning, with a daytime high of 46 degrees,” stated Johnny
Wilson, ICC’s director of programs and recreation.

If the weather prediction improves so that the event can proceed, photos
with the Easter Bunny will be at 10 a.m., with the Easter Egg Hunt
starting promptly at 10:30 a.m. The hunt area will be divided into four
age groups. Every Easter egg found will contain a candy or prize, and
each age group area will have one special Golden Easter Egg Ticket that
will entitle the finder to a special Easter prize box. There will be
several coloring book and crayon prize sets hidden in eggs, as well.

Cookies also will be available at the event, which is free. Assuming the
event moves forward, please plan to bring your own basket or bag to
collect Easter eggs.

For now, please stay tuned to local social media for event updates. As
we all know, the Idyllwild weather can change dramatically and rapidly.
ICC will confirm the status of the event as we get toward the end of the
week.
