First Arbor Day Celebration

Sunday, April 28, St. Hugh of Lincoln in Idyllwild will host its first
Arbor Day Celebration. The “seed” for this idea came from a discussion
regarding the oldest tree in Idyllwild that graces the church’s memorial
garden.

Part of the celebration for Arbor Day will include a “tree naming”
contest. Leading up to that contest, St. Hugh is seeking essays with
stories of the tree from local residents. These essays will be judged as
well, and the winner will be published in the Town Crier.

The celebration will include nature-inspired vendors, kids crafts, live
chainsaw carving, refreshments, music and loads of family fun. Admission
is free.

Submit essays via email to [email protected] or by mail to St.
Hugh’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 506, Idyllwild, CA 92549.
