The Pine Cove Property Owners Association invited Sgt. Jim Wilson, from the Hemet Sheriff’s station, to the meeting last Saturday. He discussed when to call 911 and when to call dispatch. He described the Neighborhood Watch program, how to set it up and what that means. One point he made was to know your neighbors and communicate with each other. The Idyllwild Fire Department is in discussions with the city of San Jacinto to provide fire and emergency medical services to the city. Currently, Riverside County Fire Department provides these services to San Jacinto.

The Idyllwild Scholarship Fund goes back to 1969 when three students were awarded scholarships — one for $250, one for $100, and one was a desk dictionary. The organization has carried on since then as a federally tax exempt 501(c)3 organization. Annually, contributions are nearly $12,000. Many Idyllwild youth have been awarded scholarships to further their educational goals. Last year the Idyllwild community donated well over $11,000.
On Sunday, Sept. 25, a man in a blue-plaid shirt, described as Hispanic in his early 50s, visited a number of Idyllwild businesses attempting to get change for $100 bills.
