Town Hall Sports Coordinator Richard Mozeleski gave this report:

Kindergarten through grade 3
In week two basketball action, the Red Ninjas avenged their previous week 1 loss to the scrappy Wildcats with a 15-4 win of their own. Led by Locas Odum’s 7 points and the tough perimeter defense of Silas Tiso, who continues to “tip up for jump balls against anybody brave enough to enter his territory.”

The Ninja’s Odum had help on the scoreboard with Cole Sonnier, Geneva Daghnal and Kendra Collis, combining for 8 points. The game 3 rematch should have fans excited with anticipation.

Grade 4 through 6
In fourth to sixth grade action, the Blue Thunder showed “true grit” after a tough 1-2 start of the season, Coach Carlos Reynosa made some adjustments to his rotation and Christian Rameriz, with Preson Piña, took over the scoring lead with 10 and 6 points each to upset the Bulls in a huge, much-needed victory.

The Bulls tough-hearted Tobey Posey battled relentlessly in the fourth quarter with clutch free-throw shooting and tough drives, but the tough one-two punch of the Thunder would prove too much for this night’s contest.

We will have to wait three long weeks for a rematch of this one.

Junior high and high school
The “Friday Night Lights” basketball program continues to grow with new players showing up to the evening alternative of “Fast Action of “Win or Sit” play as five teams vied for crowing rights for holding court in the older division.

In the younger junior high group, the full court up and down was non-stop, with younger “lookers on” wanting to get in the tussle and test their own mettle. A great night had by all.

Standings as of Feb. 9

Barracudas 2 1 1
Red Ninjas 2 2
