Diana Lynn Robinson passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22 in the family home where she grew up in Hemet, California. Diana entered into life on Jan. 8, 1949, at Hemet Valley Medical Center. She was the oldest of Irvin and Bernice Robinson’s three children. Diana is survived by her brother, Larry Robinson, sister, Pamela Robinson, daughter, Denise, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Diana graduated from Hemet High School with honors, and received her Bachelor of Science degree and a teaching credential from the University of California, Davis. She earned a master’s degree from California State University, San Bernardino. She retired after 30 years of teaching for the Hemet Unified School District.
She was active with the Girl Scouts in Hemet all her life, starting in the second grade as a Brownie through her senior year. As an adult, she was a Girl Scout camp counselor, troop leader, and a council trainer and volunteer for the Girl Scouts of the San Gorgonio Council for over 50 years.
A long-time resident of Pine Cove, Diana was an Idyllwild Girl Scout leader and camp director for many years. With her friends Pat Hopkins and Aggie Szigeti, she owned and operated Raw Beginnings on North Circle, a shop featuring Navajo sandpaintings and Native American pottery made in southeastern Utah.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Miller-Jones Mortuary located at 1501 W. Florida Ave. in Hemet. A reception in the desert will immediately follow. A second celebration, A Celebration of a Girl Scout Life, will take place at Skyland Ranch Girl Scout Camp located at 19750 Highway 243 in Banning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
In lieu of flowers and in her honor, please make donations to the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio, 1751 Plum Lane, Redlands, CA 92374. It was a dream of Diana’s to create a Nature and Science Center at Skyland Ranch. All donations will be directed to that endeavor.
