As of Sept. 3, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports: The current seven-day moving average of daily new U.S. COVID cases has increased 4.9% compared with last week, and it is 123.6% higher compared to the peak observed 13 months ago on July 20 2020. It is 1,217.0% higher than the lowest value observed just three months ago in June of this year.

From the CDC: According to a recent CDC study, the Delta variant can spread rapidly in schools when unvaccinated teachers and staff have close, indoor contact with unvaccinated children. Children are less affected by COVID-19 than adults, but they can still get sick from it and can spread it to others. Another recent CDC study shows that COVID-19 hospitalizations among children and adolescents is on the increase with the Delta variant.

As of Sept. 6, California reported 4,300,437 total confirmed cases of COVID, with 65,990 resulting deaths. That’s about 102,000 more cases than were reported just last week.

As of Sept. 6, Riverside County reported a total of 332,604 confirmed COVID cases with 4,654 deaths. The current rolling seven-day averages are about 654 new cases per day with 0 new deaths per day. The county now reports 630 hospitalized COVID patients, with 128 of them being in an Intensive Care Unit. ICU beds available in Riverside County number 61. According to CDC figures, 52.4% of the Riverside County population 12 years and over is now fully vaccinated.

Riverside County Public Health reports 129 total cases of COVID in the Idyllwild-Pine Cove community, with 126 recovered and two deaths, leaving one case still active.
