Idyllwild Arts (IA) National Honor Society members are staging a fundraising drive, replete with performances by IA students, to obtain school supplies for an elementary school in Honduras. From noon to 3 p.m. on three consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 29, Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, IA students will be in front of Mountain Harvest Market in Strawberry Creek Plaza to entertain and entreat. Part of the Honor Society’s mission is to perform service. The beneficiary of this year’s IA’s honor service project is a 630-student school in Punta Gorda, Honduras.
Idyllwild’s Palms to Pines Golf Association held its regular monthly tournament in conjunction with the final match-play playoff for the title of Club Champion on Friday, Oct. 21, on the Legends Course at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont (formerly East Valley Golf Club). The course was in excellent shape and the weather was fantastic.
Sandii Castleberry’s wiffle golf fundraising tournament saw its fourth edition on the Castleberry Country Club course last Sunday. In its first year, the tournament has raised money for several worthy local causes and will continue to do so next season. On Saturday Oct. 15, two Minor League games were played. The first game was between the Idyllwild Heating and Cooling Bobcats and the American Legion Hurricanes. The game was fast-paced as both teams went up and down the field. Colby Sonnier scored two nice goals for the Bobcats as did Rene Montoya for the Hurricanes.
The second game pitted the Café Aroma Galaxy and the La Casita Ravens. The Galaxy played tough defense as Julia Wangler fought off the Ravens’ attack over and over. The Ravens’ Elie Manchester played a great game while hustling around the field.

Town Hall’s first “Parent’s Date Night” in which parents could drop off their children and have a date night in town was a resounding success as 58 youngsters were dropped off to the care of staff on Friday. Oct. 21.
