Inez M. Wilson
Inez “Inie” M. Wilson, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, at home with families and friends by her side. She was 96 years old.

She was born March 20, 1915, in Deadhead Lake, Minn., to Manual and Florence Elwess. She spent most of her young life in the San Jacinto Valley.

She came to Idyllwild in 1932 on her honeymoon with her husband, Johnny Wilson. She never moved again. She truly loved Idyllwild.

Although she was well-rooted here, she had traveled to five continents and was always interested in how other people lived.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara G. Hunt and husband Bud; son Ronald G. Wilson and wife Teri; three grandchildren, David R. Hunt of Hemet, and Johnny and Tara Wilson of Idyllwild; and three great-grandchildren, Alison Yates of Idyllwild, and Hayden and Sydney Hunt of Hemet.

Pastor Bruce Morlan officiated at the graveside service held on Aug. 12 at San Jacinto Cemetery, which was followed by a luncheon for about 60 friends and family. Barbara eulogized her mother by telling of how Inie worked side by side with their father, and was also an active community volunteer. Of their family life, Barbara said, “We grew up knowing how to work, share the goods and live an honest but simple life.” And, of course, she spoke of Inie’s love of working in her gardens.

The family wants to thank everyone who sent well wishes and flowers and to those who helped in so many ways to make her life special and full.
