Margaret “Maggie” Ann Stroube was a vibrant and generous spirit beloved by all who knew her. Her sparkle and sharp wit energized any room she entered. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends. She died Saturday, Dec. 26 following complications from surgery.

Born in Oakland, Calif. she met her one love and life companion, Wiley “Jack” Stroube, in high school. They were married 52 years. They raised their family in the San Francisco Bay area and then traveled with job assignments in Newport Beach, Severna Park, Md. and Hong Kong, returning to Los Altos. They spent their retirement years in Rancho Santa Fe, Idyllwild and Palm Desert. Maggie is survived by her children, Libby Schiff of San Diego and Paul Stroube of Newbury Park; and two grandchildren, Michael Stroube of San Francisco and Erin Waters of Pasadena.

Maggie was an active member of the Palm Desert Woman’s Club and proud of the College of the Desert nursing scholarship fund it supports. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be sent to the club at P.O. Box 413, Palm Desert, CA 92261.

The family will hold private services and host a memorial gathering in Palm Desert for Maggie’s friends at a future date.
