The Riverside County Board of Supervisors issued a proclamation recognizing Ernie Maxwell's contributions on his 100th Birthday, which would have been July 7, 2011.
"During the week of July 4-10, 2011, the community of Idyllwild will celebrate Conservationist, Writer, Hiker, Cartoonist, Philosopher, Snake Catcher, Artist and All-Around Major Idyllwild Figure, Ernie Maxwell, with exhibits, potlucks, a memorial hike and presentation of the Ernie Maxwell Community Spirit Award for Volunteerism," the proclamation explains.
