Tuesday (Aug. 23) is the last day for the Registrar of Voters to receive voters’ mailed requests for vote-by-mail ballots for the Aug. 30 election. The Registrar must receive mailed requests by 5 p.m. Tuesday for voters to receive a ballot by mail. After Tuesday’s deadline, only in-person requests made at the registrar’s office can be honored.
The election involves voters in the Idyllwild Fire Protection District and the Rancho California Water District. To ensure requests are received before Tuesday’s deadline, voters should deliver requests in person to the registrar’s office at 2724 Gateway Drive in Riverside or by fax to (951) 486-7272. The Aug. 30 election will be conducted completely by mail so there will be no polling-place balloting.
Ballot request forms are located on the Registrar of Voters website at www.voteinfo.net. The Registrar of Voters office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters may check the status of their vote-by-mail ballot on the registrar’s website.
The registrar will begin processing vote-by mail ballots Tuesday and will continue daily through Election Day. Registrar of Voters Kari Verjil expects that all vote-by-mail ballots returned before Election Day will be counted by the time the polls close and that results will be ready for release soon after. By law, the results from vote-by-mail ballots cannot be released until after the polls close.
