Award for teen girl volunteers offered
If you are a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17 you may be eligible to win a Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award. This award recognizes young women who make the community and world a better place through volunteer efforts. The winner of the local Soroptimist award will receive $100 for herself and $100 for the nonprofit organization of her choice. She will then be automatically entered to compete at the regional competition, which awards that winner with $1,000 and another $1,000 for a nonprofit. That winner also goes on to compete at the national Soroptimist federation level.
Applications for the Violet Richardson Award are available at BBVA Compass bank the Idyllwild School office. Deadline to apply is Dec. 1, 2011.
