Joseph A. Heredia, 35, of Anza received a 25-year sentence for arson and two counts of criminal threats.

Judge F. Paul Dickerson pronounced the sentence on Dec. 2. The arson conviction resulted in a 16-year state prison sentence. The additional years were attributed to the other two charges as well as Heredia’s five prior convictions.

A jury found Heredia guilty of those charges on Sept. 7. They also acquitted him of burglary and threatening a witness. After a nine-day trial, the jury began deliberating on Sept. 6 and reached its verdicts one day later.

Heredia was arrested in February 2010 and received credit for serving 744 days of his sentence already.
