Four local Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit (RMRU) volunteers assisted in the rescue of an injured bicyclist in the area of Fuel Break Road in Idyllwild.

RMRU member Lee Arnson said his unit was called out around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 and reported to the area behind Idyllwild Arts. “He crashed and went over the handlebars,” said Arnson.

“The fire department [Idyllwild Fire Department] had things pretty much in control when we got there,” said Arnson.

The cyclist, from Vista, was carried out and then transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

In addition to Arnson, the other local members were Les Walker, Donny Goetz and new RMRU member Helene Lohr.
