First Idyllwild baby of 2012, Zoey Onyx Patlan, entered the world 3:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, the daughter of Idyllwild residents Juan Patlan and Christy Davis. She made her debut at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, measuring 20-1⁄2 inches in length. Baby Zoey tipped the scales at 7 pounds, 15 ounces.
It seems little Zoey took some time deciding when to arrive since. According to mother Christy, she was due on Christmas Day.
Zoey joins eight siblings. Paternal grandparents John and Phylliss Patlan are Idyllwild residents; maternal grandparents David and Judy Davis and James Hawkins live in Pryor, Okla.
As first baby of the year, Zoey wins the Town Crier’s annual First Baby Contest.
Each year, for many years, local merchants bundle baby booty that parents can claim on their progeny’s behalf. This year’s prizes included slippers for baby at Mountain Footwear; a $24 gift certificate at Wooley’s; gift certificate for mom from Idyllwild Beauty Salon; gift certificate from Café Aroma; $25 gift certificate for the family at Fairway Market; free notarization of Zoe’s birth certificate from Town Crier Notary, Shane Fender; an 8”x10” glossy photo of baby Zoe from the Town Crier; and a special gift for the baby from Idyllwild Right to Life.
