At the recent Mountain Area Safety Taskforce meeting, Edwina Scott, executive Director of the Mountain Communities Fire Safe Council outlined the second FSC Firemen’s Muster. The tentative date is April 28 and its goal is to bring the community’s attention to fire season and, particularly, the impending inspections, which will start in May.

This year’s program has expanded upon the 2011 event. Participating agencies and groups include the Forest Service, Riverside County Fire Department, Idyllwild Fire Department, the Bureau of Land Management, Forest Care, the Idyllwild Rotary and several vendors have already committed to attend at the event and display wares that will fire harden residences.

Former County Division Chief Kevin Turner will be present to discuss the Golden spotted oak borer threat and status.

This year's event will be located at the Idyllwild Community Center site, Scott added.
