Jay Orr, the assistant executive office, will become the next Riverside County executive officer. Members of the Board of Supervisors made the selection during closed session, the board of supervisors voted 4-1, with Supervisor Jeff Stone dissenting, to appointed Orr to the position.

He succeeds interim CEO Larry Parish, who has filled the position since Bill Luna resigned in September 2011.

Orr has been a county employee since 1987. He started as deputy public defender and then joined the District Attorney’s Office. He rose to ver the head of special prosecutions and to assistant district attorney. In 2006, he took over the county’s Code Enforcement office and two years later was promoted to assistant executive officer.

Orr’s tenure with Riverside County began in 1987, when he became a He. He left the office in 2006 to become Riverside County’s director of code enforcement. He became in August 2008.

A date for Parrish’s departure has not yet been set.
