Hemet Unified School District is registering students for transitional kindergarten and kindergarten now at the Centralized Registration Office.

The state’s Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010 changed the age of admission for kindergarten and first grade and established a transitional kindergarten program beginning with the 2012-13 school year.

Transitional kindergarten is the first year of a two-year kindergarten that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum. HUSD will offer transitional kindergarten in the 2012-13 school year for students whose fifth birthday falls between Nov. 2 and Dec. 2, 2012. Students who turn five-years-old on or before Nov. 1 will be placed in the traditional kindergarten program.

Parents should register at the HUSD Centralized Registration Office, 2085 W. Acacia Avenue, Hemet, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Parents should bring their child’s birth certificate, immunization record, proof of physical form, dental screening form, two forms of proof of residency, and valid parent/guardian picture ID.

Registration forms may be picked up at the Centralized Registration Office or the HUSD website at www.hemetusd.k12.ca.us.
