Mark D. Smith is Idyllwild’s new postmaster and follows a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first postmaster of the United States. Ashlee Strunk of Idyllwild has been selected for a 2014 Don Bethune Memorial Scholarship for $1,000. Dayco Corporation funded the scholarship. She plans to attend Universal Technical Institute in Rancho Cucamonga to study automotive technology.
Erec VonSeggern, a sophomore from Idyllwild, won the Wisconsin State Flute Festival held in Madison. He was awarded a first-place prize of $350.
