I would like to express my deep appreciation for the 9-11/2012 Memorial Service that was orchestrated and executed with great precision by many members of the Idyllwild Fire Protection District (IFPD) including full-time firefighters, reserves, volunteers and retirees.
The honor, brotherhood, commitment to duty and esprit de corps of firefighters and all first responders across our great Nation is evident at times like this!
And, a special thanks to the firefighter from the Community of Sage who drove his Ladder truck up here and operated it to assist in the Ceremony.
When, as a Nation, we are really at a loss for words… a giant flag flying high above our town means more to me than the fancy words of any politician.
Esprit de corps, brotherhood, honor and RESPECT for one another is what keeps these women and men bonded and capable to go back out day after day to do, an oft-times under-appreciated job and keep their spirits up.
The "Call" on ones life to public service, whether Firefighter, Policeman, Military, Coast-guardsmen is one of those things of the heart that can not be described in words without loss of meaning.
I really can't put into words from my heart the sorrow I feel for those of our fallen and surviving firefighters, police, military, and civilians of the 9-11 tragedy and their families.
And, also to the families of those who experience the bravery of their loved ones to go back out on the pointy end each day with a lump in their guts wondering if….?
May your guardian Angels and God Continue to watch over each of your brave souls as you face battle; whether fire, bullets or the unknown!
As a retired Coast Guardsman: Semper Paratus! (Always Ready).
God Bless,
Dave Miller
